Restoration Family Church, affectionately called RFC, was founded by Pastors Chuck and Pat Higgins in December 1998. Our charge and mission statement came from Isaiah 58:12 KJV, “And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.” RFC was founded with a mandate from God to reconcile His people to Him and restore them to the House of God. It has been our great honor and privilege to see many lives restored to God’s original plan. The church was a long-time vision and passion that God breathed into the hearts of both Pastor Chuck & Pat Higgins.

RFC began as a weekly Bible Study in their home until their church launch in December 1999. The beginning years were filled with set up and break down twice weekly for their services, utilizing various hotels and a VFW hall in Maplewood, New Jersey and the VFW DAYS brought many of those who function today to our RFC leadership team. RFC experienced very fruitful and favorable days in the Maplewood VFW hall. Pastor Chuck performed chaplain duties for that post and was a part of their annual Memorial Day parade for many years. We are currently located in our building in Hillside, where, once again, God has given us a favor and caused us to continue to flourish.

In an effort to fulfill the vision God has called us to, we have outreach to the homeless, providing food, clothing, and a life-changing Word each time we meet with them. We have special ministries for men and women. We also meet the needs of children through MAD, our youth & young adult ministry, and JAM, our Children’s Ministry. Our goal is to restore families through these vital areas of ministry and service. RFC encourages all age groups to personally relate to and worship the true and living God, Jesus Christ. We believe it is imperative to teach the incomparable word of Truth as found in the Bible, to pray without ceasing, and to maintain a strong relationship with the Lord and with one another.

Our Pastor Chuck left us a great foundation and a clear vision before he transitioned to his heavenly reward in 2014. He passed the baton to our current senior pastor, Reverend Pat Higgins, who has continued to advance the Kingdom of God by adding to the church daily those that would be saved, restoring the broken, and equipping the saints for the work of the ministry.
